“As long as we continue to create clothes, we’ll have offcuts. Every time I saw lots of offcuts in the stockroom and wanted to do something about it, I learned about NUNOUS through a newspaper article.
A long-established dyeing and processing manufacturer started this project to make use of fabrics that could not be made into products due to uneven colors or scratches.
tamaki niime’s fabric offcuts and resin sheets are layered like mille-feuille and pressed to create a cloth lump that is as strong as wood.
When that cloth lump are sliced into thin sheets, unexpected color patterns are created from the overlapping fabric.
The tray was created by hand stitching at nui, a support for continuous employment B-gata business office in Kurashiki city Okayama prefecture. By shaving the surface, the soft texture unique to tamaki niime is utilized to create an artistic one of a kind. An approach that leads to the future, not throwing things away, but connecting them to new creations. I think it would be a great thing if we could enjoy it in our daily lives and create a good cycle. The scent of
